Narvik is a city and municipality in Norway, situated in the province of Nordland, Ofoten district, in the geographical heart of the country. Narvik is bordered by the municipality of Evenes to the Northwest, Bardu and Gratangen to the North, the province of Norrbotten in Sweden to the South and East, and the municipality of Ballangen to the Southwest. Due to its high latitude, it falls within the Arctic circle. The city's tourism is centered around the natural wonders of the Nordic region, although it is not highly recommended to visit during the harshest winter months due to limited activity and reduced sunlight hours, which can lessen the area's appeal. The city held significant importance during WWII as it was seen as a strategic asset of great value to both armies.
